Clothing hidden at the top of the closet may deserve a second chance, thanks to Norma Wilcox’s new business, In Stitches. Wilcox repairs clothes with problems such as pulled or frayed hemlines, busted zippers and too-snug waistlines.

Settled in a small shop in Dixieland Mall in Rogers, In Stitches offers clothing repairs and alterations for $5-$25. The cost of the job varies according to its complexity and the time allowed for completion, Wilcox said. In Stitches guarantees each finished piece.

In Stitches also offers handmade clothing such as formal dresses and custom-fit slacks. The only staff member of the shop, Wilcox said, she caters to anyone from ballroom dancers to business executives. Special-order custom pieces range from $30 to $150.

Wilcox’s mother, also a seamstress, taught her daughter how to sew about 25 years ago, and In Stitches is Wilcox’s first business. Less than $1,000 opened In Stitches, and Wilcox hopes to expand the business to include embroidering services and a second location within the year.
