Robert Scott’s new Springdale business, Elegant Counters, sells and installs solid surfacing for kitchens and bathrooms. Serving commercial and residential needs, Scott uses Montelli-brand manmade polymer surfacing, available in 30 colors. Each countertop is designed to resemble natural stone and comes with a 10-year warranty, Scott said.
Start-up costs for the business were minimal, he said, because he already had most of the necessary tools. Scott estimated the value of his tools to be about $10,000. He chose to pursue the concept of Elegant Counters because he grew up with a similar remodeling business in his family.
The shop offers free estimates and charges $35 per SF for installation of the Montelli surfaces, aside from an initial installation charge of $300.
Two full-time employees and one student staff the business.
