Best Sports Inc. will be relocating its Rogers store in the next few weeks and recently purchased a building permit valued at $50,000 for alterations to the new store.

Best Sports, which sells equipment and apparel, has been at Eighth Street and Walnut Avenue for about 20 years. Best Sports has been leasing the 723 W. Walnut Ave. store but will own the 401 S. Eighth building.

Best Sports has two Fayetteville stores, at 643 W. Dickson St. and 2335 N. College Ave. Guy Davis owns the two Fayetteville stores and is the majority owner of the Rogers store. Rogers store manager Byron Black and his wife, Teresa, also own part of the Rogers store.

The new building, formerly home to the Taqueria Mexico No. 2 restaurant, will be 5,500 SF. The current Best Sports store is 3,000 SF.

Black said he hoped to be in the new building by early February.
