Springdale-based Tyson Foods Inc. recently completed its initial pledge to the anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength when it donated 650,000 pounds of chicken to food banks across the country.

The $10 million, three-year partnership with Share Our Strength is part of Tyson’s 65th anniversary celebration. It will include a total donation of 6.5 million pounds of chicken, which will provide 32.5 million meals.

The initial donation helped to provide more than 3 million meals to those at risk of hunger in many cities throughout the country, including northwest Arkansas and Little Rock. Also aided by Tyson’s chicken donation were the cities of Atlanta; Boston; Charlotte, N.C.; Chicago; Cincinnati; Cleveland; Dallas; Denver; Detroit; Houston; Indianapolis; Los Angeles; Louisville, Ky.; Miami; New York; Pittsburgh; and Wilkesboro, N.C.
