Bentonville’s Benton County Daily Record, hometown paper of Community Publishers Inc., published its first redesigned edition Aug. 29.

The new look — which features front-page story descriptions, larger headline type and greater use of color photographs — comes after a decade of little change in the newspaper’s appearance.

The change took place after three months of in-depth discussions, the Daily Record said in a Page 1 article the day the new look was unveiled.

“Not only does the design look sharp and professional, the Record is a better, more thoughtful product all the way around,” Publisher Mike Brown was quoted as saying.

On Sept. 1 (after deadline for this issue of the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal), The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas was due to launch its four redesigned, zoned editions for Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers and Bentonville. The editions were to contain the same news copy but have it repackaged to concentrate on each of the four cities.
