Strolling through Dorothy Goff’s home, browsers might find something pretty that would just suit their own styles. Like other women who have spent their lives filling their homes with antiques and collectibles, Goff has quite a variety. However, people visiting Goff’s home are welcome to buy any of the decorations.

“People are fascinated with the idea of walking through [my home] when everything they see is for sale,” Goff says.

Jewelry, tea sets and dinnerware decorate the shop, catering mainly to women, Goff says. Eight rooms of Goff’s house serve the shop.

“People of all ages are interested in something we have,” Goff says.

Opening the shop inside her home, Goff says, she can keep her mother close to her while running the business. The antique shop is fifth in a list of businesses Goff has operated, including retirement homes, a fitness center and a flea market.

Merchandise for Goff’s home came from 20 years of traveling with the Army and visiting auctions and flea markets. More traditional collectibles are featured, and Goff avoids newer collectibles like Beanie Babies.

The house Goff chose for her business also holds some tradition. Nine years ago, Goff sold the house to move on to her retirement enterprise. When she began looking for a suitable location for the shop, she moved back into the original house after new zoning laws allowed business to be conducted within the home.
