Forty Under 40: Greg Cherry
Greg Cherry, 33, joined Springdale Tractor Co. as a salesman in 1986 and has been there ever since. These days, Cherry, who graduated from Springdale High School in 1984, is vice president and general manager of the company, which has expanded its stores to Fayetteville, Siloam Springs and Harrison.
He has served Springdale Tractor as sales manager and manager before becoming vice president in 1993.
“I kind of do everything no one else wants to,” Cherry says. “I take care of equipment orders, advertising and oversee financing. I make sure we have enough money to pay the bills.”
During Cherry’s tenure as vice president, Springdale Tractor has gone from about $4 million in sales volume to nearly $15 million among all four store locations. He says he has enjoyed the hustle and excitement of putting together the company’s new sales business.
The thing that makes his job fun, however, is still the same thing it was when he entered the business more than 13 years ago.
“The thing I like most, though, is dealing with the variety of people we see,” Cherry says. “I really like talking to customers, and if I had my rathers, I’d rather be out in the country talking to farmers and selling tractors. But I have to get my work done at the office.”
