Jennifer Christman, a columnist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, criticized Men’s Health magazine in her column on Jan. 17 saying it’s a “women’s magazine that’s just for men.”
Christman may be right, since Men’s Health is published by Rodale Press, which also publishes New Woman magazine. Men’s Health contains some interesting articles, but much of the magazine is what we would call “throw-away copy” — that is, articles that are meant as a joke and contain absolutely no useful information.
It was a couple of these “throw-away” articles Christman cited in her column, calling the magazine “awful.” Does Christman think Men’s Health would seriously advise men to read children’s books for a crash course in history?
