The former sorority house isn’t the only property on campus that Greg House and his partners are interested in.

The investors were one of nine contractors submitting information to the university as part of qualifying to bid on renovating Carnall Hall, the university’s first female dormitory, which was built in 1905. The deadline for submitting the information was 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 20.

University officials will select several of the contractors and ask them to submit proposals for saving the building and finding a new use for it. The university favors the idea of converting the building into student housing. The building has been vacant for several years and was near demolition recently.

The university plans to retain ownership of the building and lease it to the developer who is awarded the contract to renovate the building. However, the developer will be responsible for financing the work.

The only other local contractor interested in the property was Swarz Investment Group LLC of Fayetteville. The university also received information from developers based in Texas, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Alabama and Florida.
