Little Rock-based telecom provider Windstream Corp. says it is experiencing a major outage of service that has disrupted its long-distance and toll-free customers.

The outage began yesterday and the company says it is working to resolve the situation.

As of 10:30 am Tuesday (April 30), Windstream said:

“Progress is being made in restoring network outages. We have all available resources working to correct these issues as soon as possible. We understand the impacts to your business and apologize for the disruption. We will be posting regular updates until all network issues are resolved.”

Windstream officials said they were not sure what caused the outage initially. Both business and residential customers have been affected.
