Obama, Congress viewed unfavorably by Arkansans

Part of what is dragging down the favorable ratings of U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., are the unfavorable ratings of Pres. Barack Obama.

Obama’s favorable rating in Arkansas has declined in the last 3 months with the majority of the shift moving from a “somewhat favorable” impression of the President to a “strongly unfavorable” position, according to the “Opinion Arkansas” poll from Roby Brock at TalkBusiness.net.

In mid-July, Obama had a 44% somewhat or strongly favorable impression with Arkansas voters, and 51% had an unfavorable opinion with 36% being “strongly unfavorable.”

In mid-October, Obama’s numbers in Arkansas have fallen to 40% favorable and 56% unfavorable. The President’s “strongly unfavorable” numbers have risen by 9% in that category during the three months with the shifts coming from his “somewhat favorable” and “somewhat unfavorable” ratings.

Obama’s job approval ratings in Arkansas have worsened, too. In July 43% “strongly disapproved” of his job performance.  Today, 50% “strongly disapprove.”

Overall, 59% somewhat or strongly disapprove, while 39% somewhat or strongly approve of the President’s job performance.

It’s not much better for Congress. Only 23% somewhat or strongly approve of the job Congress is doing. Also, 69% disapprove, with 54% “strongly disapproving” of the job elected officials are performing in Washington, D.C.
