The August issue of Money magazine rates the 100 best places to live in America. Neither Northwest Arkansas, nor any other corner of “The Natural State,” made the cut.

Fort Smith Hotel Revenue Jumps 12 Percent

For the first five months of this year, hotel revenue in Fort Smith was $8 million, a 12 percent jump over $7.1 million in the same period of 2004. That compares to a 10.7 percent increase statewide and a 9.6 percent increase in Fayetteville.

New Hotels Hit Market

In the last month, two new hotels have opened in Bentonville, adding 224 rooms to a 5,801-room market. If things go as planned, 1,142 more hotel rooms could open by the end of 2007.

KHBS/KHOG Takes 6 p.m. in Nielsens

KHBS/KHOG, Channels 40/29, took the lead in the 6 p.m. news slot in May, according to Nielsen Media Research?s households ratings for the 11-county dominant market area that includes Northwest Arkansas, Fort Smith and two counties in Oklahoma.
