CVS Pharmacy headed to Jonesboro, developer says
One of the largest pharmacy chains in the United States will be building a store in Jonesboro, a developer involved in the project said Tuesday.
Officials with Haag Brown Commercial Real Estate & Development announced a CVS pharmacy will be built on a parcel of land at the intersection of Southwest Drive and Highland Drive. The intersection connects the north and south parts of town, with the east and west sides of Jonesboro.
According to the company’s website, the chain has stores in 44 states including 11 in Arkansas. The closest store to Jonesboro is in Paragould, while there are eight stores in the Memphis area.
Joshua Brown with Haag Brown said the project could be the first of many in the area.
“We are excited to see the project with Boos Development and CVS come to fruition. The landmark corner of Southwest Drive and Highland will be an exceptional site for CVS and has already created ancillary activity.” Brown said. “This is the first of three potential announcements anticipated in this immediate area over the course of the next few months. This intersection is a gateway from home to work for several thousand people daily.”
Brown added the developers built a relationship with the property’s sellers, Marty Bennett, owner of Bennett’s Nursery, and Sharon Porter.
“We loved working with the Bennett and Porter families and are excited to complete this transaction,” Brown said. “Marty is such an easy-going guy. This will be a great opportunity for his business to expand. Mrs. Porter and her family have been through so much adversity over the past year; we are just happy for them to find needed opportunities.”
“We feel like the re-development of this corner will make a significant visual impact at the busiest intersection in Jonesboro’s south west retail market, “added Haag Brown co-owner, Greg Haag.
