The top spot in Walmart’s U.S. heath and wellness division is vacated again as Labeed Diab is leaving the retailer to be the chief operating officer job at Brookdale Senior Living.

Dieb worked as president over heath and wellness for Walmart U.S. since April 2014, when he replaced outgoing executive Dr. John Agwunobi, who after nearly seven years in that post left the retailer to focus on his work and leadership with the United States African Development Foundation in Washington, D.C.

In his new role at Brookdale, Diab will be responsible for the day-to-day operations as well as marketing and sales. Brookdale Senior Living operates in more than 1,135 communities across the U.S. offering outpatient therapy, home health, personal living and hospice services.

Diab first joined Wal-Mart in September 2009 where he oversaw the retailer’s Midwest division. Prior to that he was a regional vice president for ARAMARK Healthcare, based in Dallas. He is a registered pharmacist, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He also completed an advanced management program from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business.

Wal-Mart has not yet appointed a successor to Diab. Michelle Gloeckler is the executive vice president over the heath and wellness division in addition to other exec roles. She is the executive who recently addressed the media regarding the retailer’s health fairs and clinic expansion. Diab was not on that media call. Gloeckler took over heath and wellness oversight after Agwunobi departed the company in 2014.
