Trucking industry adds 3,000 jobs in October
The trucking industry put 3,000 more people to work in October, according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The number of workers reached 1.464 million, from 1.461 million in September.
The industry has added 8,000 jobs since October 2015.
Meanwhile, average hourly earnings in the transportation and warehousing industry, which includes trucking, rose to $23.55, from $23.49 in September. But average weekly earnings fell to $909.03, from $911.41 in September.
Since October 2015, average hourly wages have increased 2%, from $23.03, and average weekly earnings have risen 1%, from $895.87.
The U.S. unemployment rate fell to 4.9% in October.
