The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center is receiving more than $1 million from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

SBA centers provide technical assistance and free consulting services to existing and potential businesses.

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center is based at UALR and has six regional offices at the following campuses:  the University of Arkansas; the University of Arkansas at Monticello; Arkansas State University in Jonesboro; Arkansas Tech University in Russellville; Henderson State University in Arkadelphia; and Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.

The $1,021,536 federal grant, announced in February, is matched by those campuses.

According to a press release from UALR, the network helped Arkansas clients obtain a record $65.3 million in capital funding. During the past decade, clients have experienced an average sales growth that is 16% higher and employment growth that is nearly 17% higher than the average Arkansas business.
