Burlington, Planet Fitness To Move Into New Development In Jonesboro

The retail center formerly anchored by Kroger on Caraway Road in Jonesboro is getting a new look, a new name, and new tenants, officials said Wednesday.
Gary Harpole, Managing Partner of Halsey Thrasher Harpole, said the shopping center will be rebranded as Centre Court Plaza; and that it is pre-leased with two national tenants who are opening their first locations in Northeast Arkansas.
“We are very proud to announce that Burlington and Planet Fitness will be opening new locations in Centre Court Plaza,” Harpole said. “These two brands are well-known and highly anticipated in the Jonesboro market. We could not be happier to be a part of bringing them here.”
The 60,000 square foot-plus building was purchased July 2, Harpole said.
“We have had it under contract for quite some time as we worked through the negotiations with Burlington and Planet Fitness,” Harpole said. “Between the Christmas selling season for Burlington and the New Year’s fitness resolutions for Planet Fitness, we didn’t have a moment to spare.”
Harpole said the paperwork was signed at 2 p.m. on July 2 and demolition crews moved in that very afternoon.
“We had crews who worked all through the 4th of July holiday weekend. We are on a very aggressive demolition and construction schedule,” Harpole said.
Burlington will open in 45,000 square feet of the South Caraway Road location. A company news release says they will create 50-100 new jobs in the Jonesboro market.
The store will open in the fourth quarter of 2015 and will feature ladies’ apparel, accessories, menswear, family footwear, children’s clothing, a broad assortment of furniture and accessories for baby at Baby Depot, home décor and gifts, and the largest selection of coats in the nation.
“Burlington is one of those retailers that was on everybody’s ‘list’ that you talk to,” Harpole said. “When you survey who shoppers in this area wanted, Burlington was at the top with a group of elite retailers. I think being able to bring them here shows the strength of the Jonesboro market.”
Planet Fitness, the innovative health club franchise known for its Judgment Free Zone and affordable prices, will be opening its newest location in Arkansas alongside Burlington.
“We are so excited to have Planet be a part of this development,” Harpole said. “I had the opportunity to visit multiple locations during our time of putting this deal together and I think Jonesboro and Northeast Arkansas will be very excited to become a member of this facility.”
