PICASOLAR IS AN EDISON AWARD FINALIST
Fayetteville-based PicaSolar, a startup company in the solar energy field, learned this week that its hydrogen super emitter (HSE) is among those innovations to be recognized at the Edison Awards Gala held April 23 in New York. The company knows it has earned a silver, bronze or gold level award and it will find out which during the upcoming gala.

As a 2015 Edison Award finalist PicaSolar went head-to-head against companies like Yahoo!, Motorola, Proctor & Gamble, Kellogg, Pepsico and Google, all of which were nominated for innovative products as well. Read more on the accolades at this link.

TV PREVIEW: CHARLES MORGAN ON TALK BUSINESS & POLITICS SUNDAY
Former Acxiom CEO and entrepreneur-at-large Charles Morgan will be a guest on this Sunday’s edition of Talk Business & Politics, which airs at 9 a.m. on KATV Ch. 7.

Morgan, currently CEO of Conway-based PrivacyStar and an investor in Inuvo, has written his memoir chronicling his upbringing, his climb to success with Acxiom, and a lot personal stories along the way.

Hear what Morgan has to say about the book, the current startup scene in Arkansas and his role in it in the TB&P interview on Sunday. Also, Morgan will be the featured speaker at a Founder Fireside Chat at Little Rock’s Venture Center on Tuesday, March 3rd. Details here.

1 MILLION CUPS: XCELERATE’S ROD FORD
XCelerate Capital – founded and managed by nGage Labs Rod Ford – has formed a new private seed stage venture fund focused on what many say is the toughest level for a new company to jumpstart financing. Ford was the featured speaker at Wednesday’s 1 Million Cups in Little Rock, where he talked about his experiences in venture capital and what he’s up to with XCelerate. TEDxHENDRIXCOLLEGE EVENT SLATED FOR FEB. 22
Hendrix College will host a TEDx series on Sunday, Feb. 22 from 1-4 p.m. at Worsham Hall in the Student Life and Technology Center on the school’s Conway campus.

TEDx events are local conferences where themes and ideas are explored by a variety of speakers from different backgrounds. One of the purposes of the events ties into the mission of TED programming, which promotes “ideas worth spreading.”
