Meet Tyson Scholar Lacey Baradel who is fascinated by the artist Eastman Johnson. In her current book project, Baradel pays close attention to Johnson’s visual tensions between mobility and domesticity. The book traces the emergence of geographic mobility as a central theme for genre artists commenting on modern life in the United States post-Civil War.
