NWACC history professor receives Educator of the Year nod

Dr. Jami Forrester, a professor of history at NorthWest Arkansas Community College, recently received the Arkansas Council for the Social Studies University Educator of the Year Award.
 
The honor was presented Nov. 6 during the 2014 Arkansas Curriculum Conference in Little Rock. Members of Arkansas Council for the Social Studies include elementary, middle and secondary, private and public, university professors and instructors, school administrators, and non-educational professionals who recognize the importance of a strong social studies background for young citizens. Forrester recently joined the Board of Directors for the state organization.
 
Forrester is the Region 10 National History Day Coordinator for History Day Arkansas, and earlier this year, she received the national 2014 History Award for Service.
 
Forrester teaches Arkansas and U.S. history and world civilizations courses at NWACC. She and her husband, Greg, live in Springdale and have two children, Parker and Wyatt. Forrester received her doctorate in history from the University of Arkansas in 2011. She received her master’s degree in history and her bachelor’s degree in history from Arkansas State University.
