modus studio announces promotions, updates to logo, website

Fayetteville-based architecture firm modus studio said Monday (June 1) that it has promoted multiple staff, released a new logo and updated its website. The firm has promoted Aaron Speaks, Jody Verser, Kiara Gilmore, Michael Pope, and Philip Rusk to the new role of associate principal.
In their expanded roles, each will continue contributing to the firm’s leadership, project delivery, client relationships and studio culture.
Interior designer Jamie Gottlieb has been promoted to director of marketing and engagement. In her new role, she will help lead the firm’s marketing and engagement efforts, bringing together her design background and ongoing graduate studies in marketing to promote the firm’s people, ideas and projects.
Angel Reyes has been named director of fabrication in recognition of his leadership within modus shop. His “collaborative approach, organization and commitment to craft have helped strengthen the connection between the studio’s designers and makers, supporting the firm’s hands-on approach to prototyping, fabrication and thoughtful material execution,” according to a news release.
The firm also unveiled an update to its logo and brand, emphasizing “architecture + interiors” to better reflect its focus and the growth of its interiors practice led by Amanda Burcham, director of interiors.
“These updates reflect where modus is today and where we are headed,” said Chris Baribeau, principal and co-founder of modus studio. “Our work has always been shaped by the people behind it, including their curiosity, craft, leadership and deep commitment to good design. We are proud to recognize the team members who continue to strengthen the studio from within while advancing the work we do for our clients and communities.”
The relaunched website was “designed to feel familiar but fresh,” according to the release. The updated site retains the firm’s matrix format, highlighting its range of project types and design process, while offering improved functionality and usability across platforms.
The firm also marked the 10th anniversary of Kiara Gilmore, whose “energy, leadership, and commitment to her craft, the architectural profession, the firm’s culture, and its clients have made a lasting impact on modus and the communities it serves,” the release shows.
modus studio was founded in 2008 and comprises 24 full-time studio employees, two full-time shop employees, and two part-time studio employees who work in its self-developed and designed, LEED Platinum-certified architectural studio and fabrication shop.
The award-winning firm recently won two 2025 AIA Small Project Awards for the Centennial Park Pavilion in Fayetteville and the Osage Park Pavilion in Bentonville. The Architect’s Newspaper named the Anthony Timberlands Center for Design and Materials Innovation the 2025 Project of the Year. modus studio designed it in collaboration with Grafton Architects.
