A solar array in Nashville (Howard County) is supporting the Jones Center in Springdale.

Springdale nonprofit Jones Center said a 3.16-megawatt DC array in Nashville (Howard County) started operating April 22 and supports the nonprofit’s Springdale campus.

According to a news release, Entegrity Energy Partners, a Little Rock-based energy services and solar development company, developed the solar array that’s expected to generate more than 5.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, offsetting 85% of the power needed for the Springdale campus. The array will also support the center’s operations and provide long-term stability against rising utility costs.

The project was developed through a solar services agreement. Jones Center had no investment in building the array.

Under the agreement, the project is expected to provide about $3.5 million in total energy cost savings and help the Jones Center direct more resources toward its programs and community services. Over the life of the array, it’s expected to generate 153 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.

“We’re excited to see this project come online and begin supporting Jones Center’s mission,” said Flint Richter, business development executive for Entegrity. “The goal of this project was to create a long-term energy strategy that helps the organization manage utility costs while continuing to serve the Northwest Arkansas community for years to come.”

“For 30 years, Jones Center has focused on providing accessible programs and spaces that bring our community together,” said Chris Sooter, chief financial officer for Jones Center. “This project helps support that mission by strengthening the center’s long-term financial sustainability and allowing us to focus more of our resources on the programs and services our members and guests rely on.”

The 220,000-square-foot Jones Center in Springdale has the region’s only indoor ice arena, the Tyson Foods Fitness Center, an indoor pool complex, a gymnasium with indoor track, and a conference center. The 55-acre campus also includes the Runway Bike Park, Velosolutions pump track, and multipurpose outdoor recreation spaces.
