First Methodist Church of Jonesboro spends $6.35 million for building on South Caraway
First Methodist Church of Jonesboro spent $6.35 million on Dec. 1 to buy a building on South Caraway Road that it plans to turn into its church. The newly acquired building will have 55,000 square feet of usable space.
HB Medical Holdings and Haag Family Investments sold the building to the church.
Traditional and contemporary worship services will be held there along with dedicated areas for youth, children, and small group ministries. It is located near the Caraway exit onto Interstate 555.
“We are thrilled to have this location as our new home. It suits our needs perfectly,” said John Miles, senior pastor of First Methodist Church of Jonesboro. “We feel this facility will allow us to meet the needs of our congregation for worship, fellowship, and small group space. It will also give us a very visible presence in the community.”
Haag Brown Commercial brokered the deal. The building has been under redevelopment since 2023. It previously housed a medical supply company and a Price Chopper grocery store.
“I remember walking this building with Fred Dacus nearly 20 years ago, when the old grocery store was being redeveloped into a call center,” said Joshua Brown, principal at Haag Brown Commercial. “To see it come full circle, now becoming a place of worship and community, is incredibly special. So many of my close friends and longtime clients are part of First Methodist Church of Jonesboro, and knowing this space will help them grow and expand their ministry makes being part of this journey especially meaningful.”
