McDonald named to Farmers and Merchants board

Farmers & Merchants Bankshares announced Tuesday (Dec. 17) the appointment of D. Kirk McDonald, president and chief Operating officer of Zachry Exploration, to its board of directors.

McDonald has a background in both banking and energy industries and brings expertise to the Board.

McDonald’s career spans decades, beginning with 17 years at Bank of America, where he held roles in corporate lending and credit administration. Since joining Zachry in 2000, he has been instrumental in expanding the company’s reach throughout its market sectors.

“Kirk’s vast knowledge and experience in both banking and energy will be invaluable to our board as we strengthen our financial services and community presence,” said board chairman Dr. Chris Morgan. “His commitment to excellence and community aligns perfectly with our mission, and we’re excited to welcome him to the board.”

McDonald is a graduate of the University of Arkansas, holding both a bachelor and masters degrees and has served on several boards, including the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation and the World Affairs Council of San Antonio.

He is a native of Stuttgart, Arkansas, and his family has been involved with Farmers and Merchants since its founding.
