The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has awarded $3.72 million to support 12 projects related to trails and transportation alternatives across Northwest Arkansas. Transportation alternatives include pedestrians, cyclists, and other non-motorized forms of transportation.

The projects are part of ARDOT’s 2024 Transportation Alternatives Program and the Recreational Trails Program, which provided $19.15 million for 65 projects statewide. The money comes from the Infrastructure and Investment and Jobs Act or Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. No members of Arkansas’ Congressional delegation vote for the infrastructure bill.

The Transportation Alternatives Program reimburses recipients for the projects and requires a 20% match from eligible applicants.
