Springdale restaurant makes ownership changes
Daniel Hintz, co-owner and operating partner of Bauhaus Bistro and Biergarten, recently left the German-themed restaurant in downtown Springdale. Chef Rafael Rios, owner of multiple restaurants in Bentonville, has joined Bauhaus as co-owner and operating partner.
Rios is expected to maintain his existing restaurants while taking on the new role at Bauhaus. He joins Chef Jennifer Hill Booker as the restaurant’s new leadership team. Hintz will focus on growing Velocity Group, his urban planning and community development consulting firm.
“Daniel has the unique ability to genuinely connect with our community, guests, and staff, which has directly contributed to our restaurant’s success,” said Jennifer Hill Booker, executive chef, operating partner and co-creator of Bauhaus. “I have thoroughly enjoyed building the Bauhaus Biergarten concept together and wish him the best in his new endeavors.”
Hintz said he’s enjoyed his time at the restaurant and has “immense pride in what we have been able to achieve together. Over the years, I have seen Bauhaus continuously strive to create a unique and wonderful experience for its customers and employees. I am confident the company will continue on this path of success and growth.”
Rios is a four-time James Beard Award-nominated chef. Along with Yeyo’s, he owns Yeyo’s Mezcaleria in Rogers and the soon-to-open Casa Magnolia in downtown Springdale.
“I am excited to bring my experience as a chef, restauranteur and passion for German culture that stems from my four years living in Germany while in the military,” Rios said. “We will carry on the mission of this unique experience, create a welcoming place for everyone that contributes to the growing excitement around downtown Springdale and beyond.”
Bauhaus has about 12 employees. It opened in 2022 as part of a Holcomb Street redevelopment initiative that Hintz and several partners started in 2018. New investors, including Booker, joined over the years.
