The Medium to provide free space, support

Performing arts center The Medium in Springdale has launched a pilot program to offer free space and support for creative and community-focused events or gatherings.

InnerSpace is available to artists, community groups and innovators who need physical space to bring their ideas to life, according to a news release.

The program is supported by the Committee for Belonging & Bridging, a collaborative initiative led by EngageNWA and the Northwest Arkansas Council. The committee comprises 20 organizations, including The Medium, an artist-led project of Northwest Arkansas nonprofit Creative Arkansas Community Hub & Exchange (CACHE).

“Our vision for the Committee for Belonging & Bridging is rooted in the power of diverse human connection, community and collaboration,” said Monica Kumar, belonging & inclusion strategist for EngageNWA. “Building bridges and sharing access to opportunities across our region creates a more resilient and cohesive sense of belonging for all by encouraging meaningful interactions while respecting and celebrating differences.”

Applications for the InnerSpace program will open on Oct. 16, and the deadline to apply is Oct. 30. The release shows that six applications will be selected “through a fair and transparent lottery system” on Nov. 12.

Selected projects will be hosted between February and June 2025. Each project will receive one free day in The Medium’s blackbox, technical support and marketing help.

“The InnerSpace program embodies our commitment to providing accessible space to the community,” said Amber Perrodin, artist and community manager at The Medium. “This is an opportunity to host an event at The Medium at no cost. InnerSpace projects will be free to test new creative or community-building concepts in a safe and supportive environment.”
