Two established auto repair businesses in Fayetteville, University Auto & Tire and The Grease Pig Lube and Tune, have completed a merger.

The acquisition by University Auto, owned by Will and Bernadette Helton, gives the company three locations in the city.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

“This is an exciting opportunity for us to expand our footprint right here in Fayetteville with a combined 73 years of customer service,” Will Helton said. “Not only can we offer our customers expert auto repair and tire replacement, but now we can provide that same level of professionalism and quality when you just need a quick oil change.”

Grease Pig, owned by Kent and Melissa Atkins, was in business for over 23 years and has two locations at 2897 N. College Ave. and 1499 Martin Luther King Blvd. Helton said those locations will continue to do business as The Grease Pig “for now.”

University Auto started in 1973 and is at 614 N. College Ave. The company has 50 employees and will service over 40,000 vehicles annually following the Grease Pig acquisition.

“You will see significant investment in our people, our process, our locations, and our products so that we can provide the absolute best customer service to you for years to come,” Helton said.
