This concert of Russian masterworks features one of the most famous classical pieces ever written: Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-Flat Minor, with firecracker guest soloist Ching-Yun Hu. After this tour de force, the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA) ventures into territories of extreme power and depth of human emotion with Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 in B-Flat Major, which starts out dark, even cataclysmic, and ends with a celebration of the human spirit unparalleled in the classical repertoire.
