FAYETTEVILLE — Memorial Day weekend was a big one for food in Fayetteville.

The city was host to the Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race, a reality TV series featuring competing food trucks. Roving vehicles promoting a variety of fare swarmed Dickson Street, Sam’s Club, the Farmer’s Market and other areas throughout Fayetteville in a cross-country competition that will be aired on the Food Network Aug. 19.

Teams from Coast of Atlanta, Pop-A-Waffle, Momma’s Grizzly Grub, Seoul Sausage and Nonna’s Kitchenette were among those roaring through town over the weekend.

At each location visited, the food trucks stopped to buy food, prepare it and sell it out of the trucks. Teams scout strategic locations as they move from city to city in order to establish the best spot to sell their food. They do their best to keep future locales under wraps until they’re ready to make their move (though word of the race reached Fayetteville before the trucks did).
