Tontitown-based printer Moxy Ox changed hands in the fall of 2012, and the new owners are marking the 10-year milestone.

Moxy Ox began as the in-house printing and advertising division of Springdale-based Chandler Equipment Inc. In July 2011, Chandler bulked up that creative wing of the company with some additional printing equipment and staffing, and it began operating under the name Moxy Ox.

One year later, the continued growth of CEI and Moxy Ox brought Chandler to a decision.

“I had to pick one of the two businesses because Chandler was growing at the same time as Moxy Ox, and we were busting at the seams,” he recalled. “The potential growth [for Moxy Ox] was beyond what I could handle, so we decided to sell it off and find someone to take it to the next level and do it the right justice.”

Randy Hurban, Steve McBee and Joe Payne partnered to buy Moxy Ox from Chandler for an undisclosed price.

Moxy Ox has become even more focused on printing since Matt Huber joined the team in 2014. The company is now owned solely by him and Randy and Missy Hurban, with eight full-time employees.

Moxy Ox works with many Northwest Arkansas businesses and artists and prints an expansive range of products throughout the country.

“Over the last 10 years, it has been so rewarding to see the number of highly regarded companies throughout the Northwest Arkansas area who are our customers,” Hurban said. “It is a very large percentage of our clientele which reinforces our customers’ trust and confidence in our business.”

Moxy Ox occupies about 4,600 square feet at its Tontitown headquarters. Huber said the company had a 22% sales growth from 2020 to 2021. Year-to-date growth this year is about 60%.

“That’s one of the reasons we keep adding so much new equipment and technology,” he said.

Huber said Moxy Ox fulfilled orders for nearly 700 clients. The number is at almost 600 this year.

“We hit our busiest season from September through December,” he said.
