CACHE awards $1.2M to NWA music nonprofits
The Creative Arkansas Community Hub & Exchange (CACHE) at the Northwest Arkansas Council recently announced details of the 2022-23 Music Organizations Advancement Coalition (MOAC). CACHE oversees the two-year program, which is funded by the Walton Family Foundation.
According to a CACHE news release, the coalition includes eight Northwest Arkansas nonprofits who will receive a combined $1.2 million over a two-year period, with additional funds dedicated to professional development and creative collaboration.
2022-23 MOAC recipients are:
- House of Songs
- City Sessions
- Black Fret
- The Music Education Initiative
- NWA Jazz Society
- Music Moves Arkansas
- Teen Action and Support Center (TASC)
- Ra-Ve Cultural Foundation.
“The establishment of MOAC will allow us to work together across all these amazing projects, building on the inspiring work these organizations have already been doing for years to keep furthering a cohesive and collaborative music ecosystem that’s greater than the sum of its parts,” Chief Strategy & Creative Officer Jesse Elliott said in a statement.
According to the release, Northwest Arkansas’ music scene produces $389 million in economic output and is responsible for 3,972 jobs.
Since its formation in 2019, CACHE has produced, hosted, and consulted on more than 100 events in Northwest Arkansas, from festivals and music series to pop-up shows and incubators.
