Deepak Chopra bringing ‘Sages & Scientists’ event to Arkansas

Bentonville is increasingly becoming a destination for intriguing events and intriguing people.
For example, the nonprofit Chopra Foundation is bringing its Sages and Scientists Symposium to the city Nov. 14-17. It’ll be held at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
Deepak Chopra, a practicing physician who co-founded the Chopra Center for Wellbeing in 1996 in Carlsbad, Calif., is the organizer of the conference. He is considered a pioneer of integrative medicine, which recommends mixing mainstream Western medicine with alternative treatments. He has written nearly 60 books, including several The New York Times bestsellers.
Chopra organized the first Sages and Scientists in 2010 in Carlsbad, where it was held annually through 2014. The most recent Sages & Scientists was in Beverly Hills, Calif., in 2016.
This year’s symposium will focus on the future of wellness. More than three dozen health and wellness experts, academic researchers, technology trailblazers, thinkers and philosophers from around the world will convene in Bentonville to address that topic.
“The mission of the event is to facilitate synergy across a wide array of expertise and witness some of the world’s greatest minds in healthcare, neuroscience, cosmology, physics, psychology, humanities, and spirituality tackle the toughest questions to reveal the future of well-being, humanity and the cosmos,” the Sages and Scientists website says.
Intriguing, right?
Chopra and philanthropist Alice Walton, the founder and chairwoman of Crystal Bridges, will give the conference’s opening talk.
“Using the power of convening to address and overcome critical challenges, like well-being, is a key component of the Sages and Scientists mission,” Walton said in a statement. “I look forward to having this important conversation in Bentonville at Crystal Bridges, a special place to all who visit.”
