Real Deals: Church buys Centerton land, building for $3.15 million
A 45-acre commercial development just west of Bentonville recently sold for $3.15 million.
The Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church bought the property at 11301 Highway 72 West in Centerton. Joe and Lori O’Connor of California were the sellers.
Simmons Bank in Little Rock arranged the financing with a five-year loan of $3.15 million.
Steve Lane with Colliers International in Rogers represented the seller. Paul Esterer and Josh Singleterry of Newmark Moses Tucker Partners in Rogers represented the buyer. City Title & Closing of Fayetteville was the title agent.
Colliers originally listed the property in the fall of 2017 for $5.1 million. O’Connor paid $901,000 for the land in 2003, then developed it as the headquarters for a soccer club called Ingram Futbol Club. There is a 12,600-square-foot building on the property, but the bulk of it is made up of six soccer fields most recently used by a player development soccer club called Sporting Arkansas, an affiliate of the Major League Soccer team Sporting Kansas City.
The church plans to occupy the 12,600-square-foot building and establish a new faith community called The Vine of NWA. The property has frontage on Arkansas Highway 72 across from the upscale Talamore/OakTree neighborhoods and is two miles from Bentonville West High School.
Church officials say they will encourage the use of the fields for sports activities and other neighborhood gatherings.
“This purchase was the perfect fit for not only the buyer but for the community as well,” Lane said. “The soccer fields have been a central gathering place for families over the years and the community has expressed the importance of keeping it that way.”
