Residential construction permit values up 10.6%
Residential building activity among Northwest Arkansas’ four largest cities remains heaviest in Fayetteville, and permit values overall are up 9.1% through the first five months of the year.
According to data from each city, the combined value of residential permits issued in Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale through May this year was $202.21 million, up 10.6% from $182.70 million in the same time frame of 2018.
There were 722 residential building permits issued in those cities through May this year. That’s essentially flat from 728 permits issued during the same time period of 2018.
Fayetteville paced all four cities through May this year with 266 permits for a combined value of $79.03 million. That compares with 276 permits and $61.36 million in the first five months of 2018.
Bentonville building officials issued 193 permits through May this year with a combined value of $55.4 million. That’s almost identical to figures of 193 permits and a combined value of $55 million last year.
In Rogers, there were 176 permits issued with a combined value of $40 million. That is comparable activity to 164 permits last year with a combined value of $41.73 million.
Springdale issued 87 permits through May this year, a decline from 107 permits last year (-18.6%), but with nearly identical values — $27.1 million last year to $27.7 million this year.
