Fayetteville to host 2 meetings to receive input on Highway 71B

The city of Fayetteville will host two public meetings to receive input on its plan for U.S. Highway 71B. The meetings from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12 will focus on the segment of Highway 71B, between Archibald Yell and Cato Springs Road.

The meetings will take place at the Genesis Technology Incubator building, AT&T Conference Room at the Arkansas Research and Technology Park, 700 W. Research Center Blvd., in south Fayetteville.

Through December and January, the city will continue to seek feedback on the 4-mile stretch of the highway through the city as it works to complete a transportation plan for the road. In the week of Dec. 10, planners will meet with stakeholder groups and the public to discuss transportation options for a high-level view, including vehicle traffic, bus transit, bicyclists and pedestrians. Residents can drop in to offer their views and help design the future of the highway.

In 2019, planners will host more meetings and work to develop a detailed plan for Highway 71B, including how the road fits with surrounding neighborhoods and business. In July, the city hired consultant RDG of Omaha, Neb., to help with the plan, which is expected to be completed next summer.
