The music is returning to downtown Fayetteville’s historic Guisinger Building.

Sterling Hamilton, an associate with commercial real estate firm Sage Partners in Rogers, says the annual musical event Fayetteville Roots Festival is moving its administrative offices to the building at 1 E. Mountain St., now a co-working space known as Guisinger Music House.

“By having an office in the heart of downtown, the Fayetteville Roots Festival hopes to be even more connected to the cultural fabric of the community,” festival co-founder Bryan Hembree said. “The Guisinger building is the perfect place to move our main office.”

The 6,700-square-foot building was acquired by a group of investors — which includes Fayetteville real estate executive Dale Carlton, owner of Carlton Realty Inc. — in December for $1 million. The building was previously owned by Bobby Lee Odom, who bought the building in 1982 to house his law firm. Late last summer, Odom Law Firm relocated to a former medical office building at 161 W. Van Asche Drive in Fayetteville in the Twin Creeks Village development.

Built in 1886, the two-story building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, and takes its name from Ivan Guisinger, who operated a music store in several Fayetteville locations before moving into the building in 1925. When he died in 1947, his sons continued the business until 1981.

Besides the festival offices, the building is home to offices of Sage Partners, Carlton Realty, Roots Design and Development, Good Things Boutique, Verdant Studio and Hearthstone Law. The building owners are still seeking co-working tenants.
