Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Monday (May 8) named Lucas Pointer of Bentonville to serve on the NorthWest Arkansas Community College Board of Trustees.

Pointer will fill the zone 1 spot vacated in January by board member Scott Grigsby, who resigned.

The college is governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees, composed of local residents who are elected for terms up to six years by voters in the college’s taxing district made up of the Rogers and Bentonville school districts.

Pointer is a vice president at First Western Bank and a member of the Bentonville Noon Rotary Club, of which he is serving a two-year term (ending in 2019) as board member.

He is a member of First Baptist Church of Rogers, where he plays tuba in the church orchestra, according to an NWACC press release. He and his wife Ashley have five children, Caleb, Luke, Samuel, Lucy Jane and Elizabeth Grace.

Pointer is a Pine Bluff native who attended the Watson Chapel School District, according to the release, and earned his bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
