Downtown Springdale Alliance executive director Misty Murphy told Talk Business & Politics-Northwest Arkansas Business Journal she is resigning her role with the nonprofit. Murphy said she is leaving to take some time and focus on “family life and passion projects,” but expects to be involved with DSA in some capacity for as long as the board and her replacement feel is needed to ensure a smooth transition.

The first round of interviews for a new executive director were conducted the first week of April. Murphy said there is no timetable in place to make the hire.

“We don’t feel driven by time as much as we feel driven to take as much time as we need to find the right person,” Murphy said.

Murphy is DSA’s first full-time executive director. She started the job Dec. 1, 2015. Before that, she was regional trails coordinator with the Northwest Arkansas Council since 2013, during which time she promoted the 37-mile Razorback Regional Greenway and more than 200 miles of mountain bike trails in Northwest Arkansas.

Including the executive director’s position, DSA has three full-time employees.
