Sales tax revenue rebounds in October reports

Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale reported total sales tax revenue of $10.244 million in their October reports, up 6.18% from the same period last year. Year to date, the cities report combined revenue of $97.296 million, up 3.27%.
The October total is the second-highest cumulative amount for the cities this year, second only to the February report of $11.187 million. Each city reported month over month growth in October, the biggest gains coming from Bentonville, which reversed a 19.92% revenue decline in September.
Bentonville reported monthly revenue of $2.312 million, up 5.34% from the same period last year. The city has seen plenty of volatility in its revenue this year, thanks to larger tax rebates. Year to date, Bentonville reports revenue of $21.211 million, down 1.04% from a year ago. Rebates are 44.6% higher this year than in the past two years.
Rogers has seen more volatility in its month-to-month results this year compared to 2024 or 2023. The city reported revenue of $2.638 million in October, up 5.68% from a year ago. Revenue growth was up 1.59% in September and down 0.42% in August.
Through the first 10 months of 2025, Rogers reports sales tax revenue of $26.221 million, up 2.69% and short of the city’s 9.25% budgeted growth. Through September, rebates have totaled $1.577 million, up 14% from a year ago.
The city of Fayetteville reported revenue of $2.971 million, up 6.87% from a year ago. This was slightly better than the 5.6% gains reported in September and the 4.57% growth in August. Year to date, Fayetteville reports total revenue of $27.884 million, up 4.85% from a year ago. The year-to-date growth is below the city’s target of 6%.
Springdale has also seen better results this year through October. The city reported monthly sales tax revenue of $2.323 million, up 6.73% from a year ago. That compares to gains of 6.48% in September and flat results in August. Through the October report, the city’s sales tax revenue totals $21.978 million, up 6.46% from the same period last year.
