Farmers & Merchants Bank adds vice president of farm management position

Farmers & Merchants Bank and The Bank of Fayetteville have promoted Brett Provost to the newly created role of vice president of farm management. Provost is based in the bank’s Jonesboro office, where he will lead efforts to expand and enhance the bank’s farm management services across Arkansas.

“Farmers & Merchants Bank has always been rooted in Arkansas, and this role is an extension of our commitment to helping landowners and ag-focused companies manage their assets with confidence,” said Kelly Davis, chief trust officer of Farmers & Merchants Bank. “Whether it’s an investment group, a trust, or an individual landowner, we offer the expertise and oversight needed to enhance productivity, ensure compliance, and protect long-term value.”

As vice president of farm management, Provost will oversee every aspect of farm operations on behalf of clients, including tenant selection and leasing, commodity marketing, agronomics, conservation practices and capital improvement projects such as land leveling, drainage and irrigation. He will also help clients navigate the tax advantages associated with long-term improvements.

“I’m passionate about all aspects of farming, from sustainability and soil and water conservation to crop and soil health and fostering long-term relationships with farm operators,” Provost said. “My extensive experience, combined with my business relationships, has provided me with a deep understanding of the unique opportunities available to farm owners.”

Provost brings nearly three decades of agricultural and banking experience to his new role. He joined Farmers & Merchants Bank in 2012 as vice president of agricultural and commercial lending and has served as vice president, trust farm management officer since July 2025.

Before that, he worked for Regions Bank, Provost Crop Management, W.H. Provost Farms, and Marked Tree Cooperative.

Born in Memphis, Tenn., and raised in Marion, Provost has lived in Jonesboro since 1994. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, specializing in agricultural business and economics from Arkansas State University in 1996.

He graduated from the Paul W. Barret Graduate School of Banking at Christian Brothers University in 2021. Provost is a fourth-generation farmer and landowner who is a managing member of Provost Farms.
