Missouri-based beef cattle ranch The 808 Ranch plans to expand onto about 1,000 acres between Bentonville and Pea Ridge. Ranch owners Lamar Steiger and his wife, Shari, will expand their ranch onto land owned by their family since 1970.
The 600-acre The 808 Ranch is a purebred black Angus ranch near the Elk River and the Missouri/Oklahoma state line, about 35 miles from the Northwest Arkansas property, according to a news release.
The expansion, The 808 Ranch at the Ridge, comprises land that was formerly part of Jac’s Ranch at 10016 Arkansas Highway 72 East. The Steiger family plans a phased growth approach for The 808 Ranch at the Ridge over the next several years. Lamar Steiger and his nephew, Sam Steiger, will manage the new location. Complete plans have yet to be disclosed, but the nearly 1,000-acre ranch property will be an extension of the Steigers’ 808 Ranch on the Elk.
“As a third-generation ranching family, Shari and I understand the importance of agriculture to both Northwest Arkansas and the nation. With the rapid growth of the area and our family’s continued interest in cattle innovation, we hope to continue our work and dedicated to our love of agriculture,” Lamar Steiger said.
According to the release, he and The 808 Ranch are nationally known for using precision genetics ranching protocol, which aims to consistently measure and grow the best black Angus cattle.
