John Rausch and Buddy Coleman founded Rausch Coleman Homes in 2002 and sold the company to Lennar in February 2025. John Rausch founded Rausch Enterprises, doing business as Rausch Companies, in 2008 as he began to create and launch additional businesses while he grew the home building business. Today, Rausch Companies is headquartered in Fayetteville.
The story of Rausch Companies has to include the history of Rausch Coleman Homes as the success of the company led to enabling the divisions under the Rausch Companies umbrella.
They include:
• EnergyWorks, an exploration company focused on the acquisition and development of oil and gas assets, was created in 2008.
• American Residential Group (ARG), which was formed in 2016 as a single-family residential rental company.
• American Development Group (ADG), an excavation and sitework contractor performing work in Northwest Arkansas that was launched in 2016.
• LTS Engineering, a company started in 2023 to provide engineering services for land development activities.
The company is also aligned with The Calara Group, a full-service real estate development company launched in January 2025 under the continued executive leadership of Rausch Companies. The team at Calara specializes in transforming land into thriving communities by developing lots for builders.
ARG has added more than 1,000 single-family rental homes to its portfolio. The company is also entering into the multifamily rental space and is currently building its first apartment complex in Fayetteville.
But the rental company has a mission beyond just finding tenants for homes. ARG works with renters who are not ready to purchase a home because of bad credit. Through short-term leases, ARG coaches renters on how to improve their credit scores.
“We have countless incredible stories of achievement by these people who were dedicated to improving how they manage their finances and ultimately were able to purchase their own homes,” the company said.
Over the next five to 10 years, Rausch Companies expects to explore new investments, while focusing on its existing divisions. There are plans to scale the Calara Group quickly. The foray into multifamily residential is just beginning, company leaders say. They have already purchased land for new projects in other states. Lastly, Rausch Companies plans to grow its supply of single-family residential offerings by more than 20% each year over the next three years.
Editor’s note: This company is a finalist for the Northwest Arkansas Outstanding Business Awards — Large Business category. Winners will be announced at a luncheon on April 9.
