Paxton Roberts tapped to lead Downtown Springdale Alliance
Downtown Springdale Alliance (DSA) has appointed Paxton Roberts as its new executive director, according to a Tuesday (Jan. 7) news release. He begins in his new role on Monday (Jan. 13).
In October, DSA announced the departure of executive director Jill Dabbs after serving the organization for six years.
Roberts has experience in nonprofit leadership and community initiatives. He previously served as managing director of Trailblazers and executive director of BikeNWA. He will initially focus on collaboration with staff and community stakeholders in his new role.
“I am thrilled to join Downtown Springdale Alliance and serve a region rich in culture and history,” Roberts said. “I look forward to working with local and regional leaders and community members to ensure Downtown Springdale remains a vital hub of connection, opportunity and growth.”
DSA was established in 2011 and evolved from Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse’s Downtown Development Task Force. The nonprofit’s mission is to create a vibrant downtown.
“Paxton brings an exceptional combination of experience and enthusiasm to this role,” Sprouse said. “The city of Springdale is committed to supporting a downtown that reflects our vision as a community. I look forward to the progress he will bring our way.”
Roberts earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arkansas, where he also pursued his doctorate in public policy. He also earned an executive certificate in nonprofit leadership from Harvard Kennedy School.
“Paxton impressed us with his understanding of what makes a downtown thrive and his track record of bringing people together,” said Sandy Nickerson, chair of the DSA board of directors. “We’re confident he will build on our strong foundation and lead Downtown Springdale to new heights.”
