Coler bike trails reopen after storm

The Peel Compton Foundation has reopened the Coler Mountain Bike Preserve following the May 26 storms and tornadoes that damaged and destroyed homes and businesses in Benton County.

“After months of storm cleanup and repairs, Coler Mountain Bike Preserve is excited to announce that our trails are 100% open,” said Matt Timboe, site manager of Coler Mountain Bike Preserve. “This would not have been possible without the dedicated hard work of our trail and grounds crew, the many contractors who assisted and countless other volunteers. While we still have a long way to go with our overall cosmetic restoration of the preserve, we are grateful to welcome the community back to enjoy all our spaces.”

Timboe added that new trail construction is underway. “Our trail builders are now moving forward with upgrades, new features and the addition of brand-new lines,” he said.

Completed in 2020, Coler Mountain Bike Preserve is a community space provided by Peel Compton Foundation that offers more than 17 miles of trails for various skill levels.

It was created in honor of the area’s first settlers and is about a five-minute bike ride from downtown Bentonville.
