Northwest Technical Institute (NWTI) in Springdale has expanded its partnership with online education provider ed2go to offer new training opportunities across in-demand industries.

Over the past nine years, NWTI has worked with ed2go, a provider of adult online education and part of Cengage Group. Through the expanded partnership, NWTI will offer hundreds of online courses.

“This partnership is a natural fit,” said Michael Dewberry, director of workforce development and special projects at Northwest Technical Institute. “We understand the value of career training in today’s ever-changing job market and the need to provide flexible options for today’s learners to quickly and effectively upskill or reskill to expand their employment opportunities. Ed2go has a proven background that will help us to best meet our communities’ learning needs.”

According to a news release, ed2go partners with academic institutions to provide “innovative, relevant courses that align with job market demand” and include a variety of industries, such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); medical billing; and information technology. Programs comprise career and certification training, and personal and professional development courses with a focus on teaching transferable and in-demand skills. The online model allows students to learn anytime or anywhere. Students can choose self-paced and instructor-led courses and collaborate with instructors and other learners.

Mark Moreland, director of marketing and public relations at Northwest Technical Institute, said the online courses range from $100 to more than $5,000 for advanced career courses. Introductory skills classes can be completed within 24 hours. Advanced career courses, such as executive assistant with Microsoft Office specialist expert certification, can take up to 745 hours or over 18 months to complete.
