Melissa Greenslade has been named interim president of Springdale-based Northwest Technical Institute, according to a Thursday (June 20) news release. Northwest Technical Institute Board of Directors has approved the appointment.

Previously, Nicholas Ryburn had been named to the interim role, but he rescinded his acceptance of the role “for personal reasons,” according to the release. Ryburn will remain the adult education director at the technical school.

Greenslade is the vice president of instruction and curriculum at Northwest Technical Institute. Her transition to interim president begins immediately, and she starts in the role on July 1.

Greenslade started at the technical school in March 2018 as the director of student services and became vice president of instruction and curriculum in August 2022. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Henderson State University and a law degree from the University of Arkansas.

“It’s a privilege to take up the role of interim president at Northwest Technical Institute,” Greenslade said. “I look forward to collaborating with our Board of Directors, state leaders, and our dedicated faculty and staff to ensure our students receive the highest quality workforce training.”

On May 21, Jim Rollins, president of Northwest Technical Institute, announced his resignation because of health reasons. The resignation is effective June 30. Rollins started as president on July 1, 2020.
