NWA residential building permits up almost 11% through 1Q
Residential building permit activity for single-family homes in Northwest Arkansas’ four largest cities is up 10.6% from last year’s pace through the first three months of 2024.
According to permit data from each city collected by the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, there were 404 residential building permits issued in the first quarter in Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale. That compares with 365 permits in the same period of 2023.
The permits through March this year have a combined value of $150.45 million, up 25.1% compared with $120.2 million last year.
Officials in Fayetteville issued the most permits through March with 199 ($67.80 million), up 49% from the previous year of 133 ($34.46 million).
The report from the other cities through the first three months was:
- Springdale: 110 permits, $33.46 million (2024); 40 permits, $11.09 million (2023).
- Rogers: 50 permits, $21.66 million (2024); 94 permits, $32.89 million (2023).
- Bentonville: 45 permits, $27.53 million (2024); 98 permits, $41.76 million (2023).
Building officials in Centerton issued 152 single-family permits in the first quarter of this year. That’s up nearly 27% compared with 120 permits in the same period of 2023.
In Bella Vista, through March this year, city officials issued 153 permits valued at $52.8 million. That’s up from 112 permits and $41.38 million in the same period of 2023.
