Pea Ridge School District, city partner in $1.55M land purchase
The city of Pea Ridge and the Pea Ridge School District partnered on a $1.55 million real estate deal to buy approximately 55 acres just east of the city limits in Benton County. The purchase price equals $0.65 per square foot.
The property is at the northeast corner of Arkansas Highway 72 and Guthrie Road. Carroll Electric was the previous owner, and before that, it was Glad Heart Acres, a local farmer.
Mayor Nathan See said the deal had been in the works for about a year. The land is for future community development. See said 4 acres had been earmarked to build a fire station.
“We are beyond excited about this purchase for the future of Pea Ridge,” he said. “By working together, we can maximize resources and opportunities to benefit both our students and the community. Now that we have the land, we can have a plan.”
According to property records, the city paid $1.13 million for approximately 40 acres. The school district paid $429,210 for approximately 15 acres. Both were all-cash transactions.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Pea Ridge had a population estimate of 7,852 in July 2022. That’s up nearly 64% from 2010.
