Jonesboro business owner Lynette West named SBA’s Small Business Person of the Year
Small Business Administrator Isabella Guzman announced Tuesday (March 12) the National Small Business Week award winners, including one from Jonesboro.
“Our 2024 National Small Business Week award winners exemplify excellence, innovation, and commitment, and the SBA is proud to showcase their incredible achievements and impact on their communities and our economy,” said Guzman.
“National Small Business Week is the nation’s opportunity to lift up the amazing entrepreneurs, small business advocates, local partners, advisors, lenders, and investors who support America’s entrepreneurial spirt and the historic Biden-Harris Small Business Boom,” she added.
Arkansas’ Small Business Person of the Year is Lynette West, the owner of HealthWear Corp. in Jonesboro. Her business provides medical uniforms and accessories in a boutique setting.
West is a graduate of the 2021 SBA Emerging Leaders program. She also received a Paycheck Protection Program loan and an Arkansas Ready for Business Grant, allowing the store to remain open and keep employees onboard during the height of COVID.
“It’s truly inspiring to see how Lynette and her business HealthWear Corp. exemplify the essence of local businesses fueling Jonesboro’s economy,” said Jerry Talbert, the U.S. Small Business Administration Arkansas District Office deputy director.
“Her commitment to quality not only drives her success but also contributes significantly to our community’s growth and prosperity. Recognizing HealthWear Corp. isn’t only about celebrating a successful business; it’s about honoring the remarkable achievements of a woman-owned enterprise. Woman-owned businesses represent 42 percent of all small businesses in the United States. This accomplishment and so many others underscore the economic contribution woman-owned small businesses make to the U.S.” he added.
The NSBW award ceremonies will take place April 28-29, 2024 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Washington, D.C.
